Founded, and opened by James Killigrew in 1663, after the suppression of theatres in England by Cromwell, burned down in 1809, rebuilt in 1812..The history of the Drury Lane reads like a presentation of just about everybody with a name in British theatre, including Pope, Kean, Booth, Sheridan, Siddons, Garrick, the Campbells, Irving, Tilley, Terry, Neville, Novello etc..Illustrated paper over board front cover, black cloth spine and back cover. End papers show a facsimile of the playbill of a Garrick performance.
Corners bruised and worn, gilt spine title faded, name on ffly; o/w very good and clean inside.
