Original full Calf with attractive cecorative gilt tooling on spine, despite some wear. Five raised bands, original marbleized endpapers, inside margins of covers nicely tooled. Illustrated throughout, ca. 300 engravings in the text.
A section of 20 pages has some foxing, o/w clean. Repair: detached Index pages reattached with 3 strips of Japan paper, covers reattached with well "camouflaged" cloth tape and a visible grey strip inside at front cover. Tear at top of spine repaire, loss of small piece. Wear along all edges. Still an attractive, solid copy.
