Original fine vellum binding. Contains "Eloge" by La Bruyere, Clef, Vol. I and II, each with red and black title page, "Discours prononcé dans l'Academie Francoise" (sic) with preface, "Avertissement", "Ouvrage Nouveau dans le gout des Caracteres de Theophraste, et des Pensées de Pascal", "Table". With a few nice decorations and decorated initials.
The Ink title of the spine has mostly disappeared. The light vellum cover is moderately soiled, perfectly in character with the age. So is the trace of the bookworm along the front hinge, not affecting the solid binding. There is also a short trace of the critter in a small back section, reaching the top line of the text without much damage. Exlibris on front paste down, lacks ffly..
